Today I got the great news that I can go back to Boston for 3 months!!
Of course I'll be sad that I have to leave my friends, family and of course my boyfriend for so long, but I'll see my other friends again! And... I get to see San Fransisco! Mid June there's an endocrine congress in San Fransisco where I will present some data. Very exciting!! I'm nervous already...
I'll probably be leaving on March 30th and coming back June 26th. So everybody who wants to come and visit me, more than welcome!
So: Boston, here comes Kate!!
(for the people who don't have a clue who Kate is, it's my alter ego in Boston, since I got tired of pronouncing my own name 10 times to everyone in Boston, and hearing "Hula" ;)

a trip to Bruges
Well, it's been a while, 2008 has already started!! No more holidays for a while now...
But luckily there's something like city trips! Last weekend Pascal and I went to Bruges, "Brugge die scone". It was his pre-birthday present from me (not that he should expect any other present on his actual birthday though!). We had a nice hotel just outside the city. On Saturday we went to see "Snow and Ice", the Dutch ijssculpturen. This was amazing!! What people can make of some snow and ice... Even the famous 'Kabouter Plop' and his friends were there!
Here are some impressions:

The rest of the day, we walked around Bruges, and bought chocolate. Unbelievable how many chocolate shops there are crammed together! It was very hard for me to walk by every shop and not going in! So you can then probably understand my devastation when the tourism office told me the chocolate museum was closed for another week!!! And that was exactly the one thing I really wanted to see that weekend! (ok, granted, with a little exaggeration ;)
On Sunday, we climbed the 366 stairs of the 'belfort' and had a nice view of the city at the top. The photo below is not taken at the very top, but somewhere halfway.

The rest of the day, we bought more chocolate ;) So I can truly say it was a great weekend! Now I only hope Pascal felt the same way ;)
